Preparing for a new school term can place extra pressure on family budgets.
The cost of getting children ready for school can add up quickly. Shoes, uniforms, bags, stationery and other essentials are necessary purchases, but they are not always easy to manage alongside household bills and everyday expenses.
As part of our community support programme, Harrison’s Accountancy is here to hopefully help make things a little easier for families who are struggling with the cost of school supplies.
Support with essential school items
If your family needs help with school essentials, please get in touch with us.
We may be able to help with items such as:
- School shoes
- School uniforms
- School bags
- Stationery
- Other essential supplies needed for the new term
Every family’s circumstances are different, and we will consider requests carefully. While we cannot promise that every request can be fulfilled, we would encourage you to contact us if the cost of preparing for school is causing concern.
A confidential and judgement-free conversation
Asking for support should not feel uncomfortable or embarrassing.
We understand that families can experience financial pressure for many different reasons. A change in circumstances, rising household costs or unexpected expenses can make the start of a new school year particularly difficult.
There is zero judgement. Any conversation with our team will be treated as completely confidential, and you do not need to worry about being criticised or made to feel uncomfortable.
Our aim is simply to listen, understand whether we may be able to help and offer support where possible.

- Any useful information about your circumstances
Other help may also be available
You may also wish to check whether local or national support is available to your family.
Depending on where you live and your circumstances, your local council, school or college may have information about help with uniforms, clothing, meals or equipment.
Useful sources of independent information include:

- GOV.UK: 16–19 Bursary Fund, which may help eligible students with education-related costs
You can also speak directly to your child’s school. Some schools have second-hand uniform schemes, hardship funds or links with local organisations that provide practical support.
